The
Region
Lou Cacalas is ideal for relaxing and exploring locally, but if you prefer to go further afield, you could try driving the Wine Route, which is widely signposted, and take in the pretty villages tucked under Mont Ventoux - Sablet, Seguret, Gigondas, Sault, Malaucene, Vaison la Romaine, Beaumes de Venise to mention but a few.
Most of these are wine producing villages, so stop and buy a bottle or two.
In summer, you can drive right to the top of Mont Ventoux from where there are spectacular views.
Avignon is well worth a visit, with its historic Pope's Palace and famous bridge (sur le pont d'Avignon...) and the famous wines of Chateauneuf du Pape are also close by, on the River Rhone.
Further afield you have the stunning scenery of the Ardeche, where you can also go kayaking, or if you prefer a beach, Les Saintes Maries de la Mer on the Mediterranean in only 1hr20mins drive away, through the beautiful Camargue with its pink flamingos, black bulls and white horses.
